From event manager to wine expert
My interest in wine started during my education in hotel and event management. I had to choose an extra subject and my eye immediately fell on vinology. I found this subject so much fun and interesting that I obtained my wine certificate during my graduation! After graduating, I completed my education as a vinologist in 1 year. This is certainly a milestone for me, because a large part of the people who start the education do not succeed in the end.

Passion for wine
During my training as a vinologist I knew for sure that I wanted to make wine my profession. You talk to so many people from the industry and I knew very quickly that this was the field where I wanted to stay. Before I ended up at Dare Wines I also worked as a hostess for a while. After that I worked as a sommelier at a restaurant that received its first Michelin star last year!

Variety is the key word

A day at Dare Wines is very varied. This depends on appointments I have with customers, but also on the season. For example, after Carnival is the time when many new wine lists are introduced and the asparagus season is the time for new menus with wine arrangements.

We work out a wine arrangement based on the menu that we receive from the customer. Which wines we select also depends on the cooking style of the chef, the type of restaurant and of course the wishes of the guests. When we have found the perfect match, we let the customer taste this wine selection.

Besides creating wine lists I am also very busy with arranging tastings and with Dare Wines The Game. I like variation, so it is good that a day at Dare Wines is never boring!

Tips from Lisa

Rosé is often forgotten in the wine-food story. Many people think that rosé can only be drunk in the summer, but it is actually one of the most gastronomic options to surprise people with! A good glass of rosé is delicious with a fish broth or lobster soup, for example.

If I had to choose a favorite wine from our own assortment, I would go for a relatively new wine: the Trepat. This is a red wine from the Mas Foraster winery in Northeast Spain. This is a refined, elegant and spicy wine, Pinor Noir style, I really like that!
