Argentina; Tough & Sublime

Wine country Argentina is located in the southernmost part of South America . A huge country, with considerable climate differences. For example, in the north you can speak of a subtropical climate and in the south you will find arid cold between the mountains. Many of the wine regions of Argentina are located in the west of the country, towards the Andes, on the border with neighboring Chile. The Andes block a lot of rain, making them dry and warm areas. Many vineyards are therefore located high in the mountains , where it is cooler and the grapes retain their aromas better. Argentina is one of the largest wine producers in the world . Traditionally, wine growing in Argentina has been focused on producing large quantities of very simple grapes for the Argentines themselves. For this, the Argentines used two local grape varieties 'Criolla' and ' Cereza' ; large yield, but lower quality. Nowadays, the Argentine farmers 'farm' differently; With influences from Europe they produce many well-known mono-cepages (wines made from one grape variety), but are of course known for their Malbec, embraced from France.
