Bodegas Christo de la Vega is located in the middle of the Spanish Denominacion de Origen La Mancha . The winery has enormous references in this region and throughout Spain, partly due to their rich and great experience in the wine world and their worldwide fame of now as 5 regions. Bodegas ChrIsto de la Vega today has 60 years of experience and continuity in quality . The winery was founded in 1955 by a group of 25 grape growers, led by Juan Manuel Orriach Moreno . Every day they work hard to produce the most authentic wines; wines that reflect the terroir and the character of the landscape. The quality of the wines is guaranteed by DOC La Mancha, the largest Denominacion in the world.

HOT & DRY, YET IDEAL

The vineyards of Christo de la Vega are situated at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level . The climate is continental with warm summers and long cold winters with rainfall of 300 to 400 mm. These extreme conditions are ideal for the ripening process of the grape varieties grown, some of which are almost 100 years old. La Mancha is a large wine region located south and east of the Spanish capital Madrid. The conditions for wine growing in this region are harsh. The hot and dry Castilla La Mancha has traditionally been known as a source of low quality bulk wine. More than half of Spain's grapes are grown here. However, in recent decades (and especially since 1986, when Spain joined the European Union) viticulture has undergone a revolution that has changed the face of wines from Castilla-La Mancha. Both large producers and smaller companies such as Christo de la Vega now use modern wine growing technologies, combined with a judicious selection of grape varieties and ripening techniques.

THE PASSION OF WINE MAKING

The cooperative's collective 'know-how' brings together the best effort , the best affection, the cooperative's affection and the greatest passion (winemaking). The consistent quality of the wines also comes from this passion to always produce well-drinkable and elegant wines. Today it is a 'state of the art' bodega, equipped with the most modern technical gadgets for producing top wines for a very good price. In collaboration with Christo de la Vega we have an exclusive line of mono-cépages (made from 100% one grape variety), starting with the freshest white style made from 100% Verdejo: Verdejo 'Despierta' ('despierta means 'cheerful'). In addition, we have the 100% Chardonnay, Dominio de Vegasan (Vegasan's domain > name of the winery), which is a bit fuller but still fresh. We also have the Despierta in red, made from 100% Tempranillo. A fresh, sultry red. We also close the 'lively' Despierta series with a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon . Definitely worth a try!
