In the heart of Puglia, aided by a very pleasant wine-growing climate, Feudi Salentini is attempting an ambitious project, namely to 'capture' this fascinating climate in its wine style. Puglia distinguishes itself by both the use of authentic grapes and a modern expression of an ancient tradition . This is proven by a long and prestigious list of awards that they have won in recent years. The 3rd generation of the Varvaglione family now runs this wine estate. Cosimo and Maria Teresa Varvaglione have a dynamic and motivated team of staff and combine the centuries-old Puglian tradition with new technologies. Feudi Salentini ensures consistent quality through careful selection of only the best grapes. Full of passion and dynamism, they work to make the tastiest wines of Puglia. They work on a consistent quality of the wines , partly through a careful selection of the best grapes and responsible choices during the harvest. The vineyards are surrounded by small stone walls with rural green views. Puglia has a fantastic wine-growing climate. Partly due to the use of indigenous grapes and a modern method of an ancient tradition, the wines distinguish themselves from many other wine producers in this area. This is also evident from the many awards that winemaker Feudi Salentini has received. And certainly entirely rightly so.
Due to its favourable location on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas , Puglia benefits from the cooling coastal influence on the climate. Most vineyards are located in the south and on the coast, around Salento and near Brindisi . The landscape is predominantly hilly. The vineyards are spread between and on the hills. The soil is varied and varies from chalky and clayey to sandy. Puglia was unfortunately known in the past as ' the wine barn of Italy '. Most production disappeared as mass wine abroad or was used to concentrate the wines from other regions. A new generation of winemakers has fortunately taken a different path and chosen to focus entirely on making quality wine, including Primitivo, also known as Zinfandel in Australia.
Feudi Salentini, Puglia, Italië
Good with slow cooked meats and stews with spicy notes, spicy BBQ dishes and roast poultry, such as partridge, with a strong (port) sauce. Also good to combine with baked or grilled lamb back, hare, saddle, leg and Iberian pork with strong sauces and strong, hard cheeses with compote.

Combines well with raw fish dishes with soy or wasabi, and fried/roasted shellfish. Fish dishes with sauerkraut and cream sauces or spicy and spicy elements. Raw meat or poultry with pate and fried goose and duck liver also taste very good with this wine. Just like winter cream soups and fried and oven-baked vegetables or softly cooked bacon and red bacteria cheeses.
