Josep Grau is a family business located in the municipality of Marcà, in the Montsant appellation. An area that relies on its wines and the land and on the adventures of the winemakers. Adventures that require effort, passion and great enthusiasm. Qualities that Josep Grau possesses in abundance and ensure that his wines have character and strength.
At Josep Grau, all work is still done by hand, from pruning to harvesting. He works organically and therefore free of herbicides and pesticides. With its total surface area of 26 hectares and diversity of terroirs, it requires a lot of effort from the winemaker. In addition, the yields per vine are very low , varying from 500 grams of grapes per vine to 1.5 kilos per vine. The vines of at least 15 years old and the majority of 70 years or older, give the wines their unique character .
Josep Grau grows various grape varieties including Garnacha Bianca, Garnacha Tinto, Samsó, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. One of the basic characteristics of Josep Grau's wines is that they are not corrected. His ultimate goal is to translate the preciously obtained fruit from the vineyards into a wine with all its natural characteristics. His wines know how to reflect the Montsant area in perfection. Wines with complexity and their own personality, always with good structure and perfect balance.
Josep Grau is also the owner and monologue of the Cellar Dosterras Winery, also located in Montsant. Mr. Grau personally selects the grapes that are used for these wines. Always from vines between 40 and 100 years old. The Dosterras Winery has a total of 22 hectares of vineyards, all with a top which is rich in minerals. They work here organically with low yields per hectare, which ensures an expressive and intense taste.
