The late Pierre André, born in 1895 in Nancy, grew up in the area of ​​Corton, hills at the foot of the hills in the middle of Burgundy. In 1914 he enlisted in the army, the 'Infantry Regiment of Lons-le-Saunier'. He served there during the First World War and was among others a participant in the battle in Verdun. In 1917 he was taken prisoner, but Pierre André managed to escape from captivity; he was officially awarded the famous ' Military Medal ' in 1918, an award for soldiers serving during the War. In 1923 his love for wine growing began; he found his first wine estate near Paris. In 1927 he entered the ' University of Burgundy Wines' , by gaining access to the Chateau Alexe-Corton. From that moment on, he revolutionized Burgundy with his ideas and views on wine production, his dynamic character and his business side. In 1938, André opened his first restaurant where he only served his own wines. To this day, Pierre André is a prestigious icon in the wine industry, known all over the world. MEURSAULT THE KING OF BURGUNDY

Meursault is a commune in the Côte-d'Or department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in northwestern France. It has 1,566 inhabitants (2008). The town is part of the arrondissement of Beaune and takes its name from a Roman settlement called 'Muris saltus' or "Mouse's Leap". The village is best known for its excellent vineyards, with Chardonnay grapes producing Côte de Beaune.
