ONE CHÂTEAU, ONE FAMILY, ONE HISTORY

Chateau Tour Mondet falls under Chateau Le Grand Verdus and is the second label of the Le Grix de la Salle family. The history of the chateaux 'Le Grand Verdus' goes back to the Renaissance (1579), and the Le Grix de La Salle family has been producing wines since shortly after the Second World War. The family dates back to 1810 and is one of the oldest wine families in Bordeaux. The Château is still inhabited by one of the family members. All 125 hectares are in their own possession and in addition to vineyards, the family also owns large areas of forest in which they can hunt to their heart's content. Thomas is the current winemaker and has done an internship in Marlborough in New Zealand, among other places. The style of Marlborough can be found in the white Tour Mondet, the vineyard area of which has been expanded from 0 to 16 hectares. The first recent vintage for the white variant was 2005. The most important internship that Thomas has done is at Château Petrus . Olivier Berrouet , the winemaker of Petrus, is not only a good friend but also the godfather of Thomas' children.

BETWEEN TWO SEAS

The picturesque two-river country 'Entre-Deux-Mers', is a wine region in France between the two rivers Dordogne and Garonne . The name 'Entre-Deux-Mers' literally means ' between two seas ', which probably comes from the fact that the ebb and flow of the Atlantic Ocean can still be felt far upstream in these rivers. With around 6000 hectares of vineyards, it is one of the largest wine regions in Bordeaux and is therefore good for almost half of all Bodeaux wines. Although most of these wines are red, the name Entre-Deux-Mers actually stands for white wine. This is because the appellation only applies to white wines . You can imagine that the two rivers in the area, in combination with the influences from the Atlantic Ocean, have an influence on the climate of the area. The area is also located around the 45th parallel. This combination ensures a temperate climate with a regular, good humidity level . By the way, it generally rains quite a lot in Bordeaux.

MULTIPLE LABELS

Chateau Grand Verdus produces several cuvées. We carry the 2nd label of the Grix de la Salle family - exclusively for Dare Wines in the Netherlands - this is Chateau Tour Mondet. Of course, we have the classic white Bordeaux from this line, made from 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sémillon and 10% Muscadelle, which is wonderful as an aperitif but also with, for example, fruits de mer. The wine is refined, aromatic and fresh.
The red Bordeaux in this line is theclassic Bordeaux blend, made from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a soft, full structure, rich fruit aromas and a hint of vanilla. Delicate, winter wine. And exclusively available from us.
